I teach classes in Creative Writing and Literature, including:

 

  • An Introduction to Creative Writing (1-4)

Try your hand at different forms of writing – short stories, novels, poetry and drama – in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.  These classes are suitable for writers of all levels, but nervous beginners are especially welcome.

Yeats - when you are old 2019 (4)Poetic Themes: an Introduction to Poetry

Department of Open Studies, Glasgow University 

This ten-week course explores the major themes of poetry: love, nature, war, humor and mortality. No previous knowledge of poetry is required, although you’re welcome to nominate your favorite poems for class discussion.

  • The Garnethill Writers’ Group

     

    Garnethill Multicultural Centre

    A writers’ support group, which meets once a month to give feedback, support and encouragement to authors finding it hard to go it alone. The group is very friendly and informal, and is open to anyone. 

    The group meets at Garnethill Multicultural Centre, 21 Rose Street in central Glasgow, G3 6RE (opposite the Glasgow Film Theatre). 

    Meetings are usually held on the third Monday of each month, 1.00 – 4.00 pm.                                                    The next meetings are:

    • 21 January 2019
    • 18 February 2019
    • 18 March 2019
  • The cost is £10 per session.  There’s no obligation to sign up for any later sessions – just come along and see what you think.  You’re welcome to sit in on an initial meeting free of charge.

  • Community Learning Creative Writing Workshops

Six weeks of writing workshops, in Westwood Community Hall in East Kilbride.

  • Reading Poetry: the Clarkston Poetry Group

A literature reading group, which explores all kinds of poetry from Chaucer to Pam Ayres.  No previous knowledge of poetry is required, and the first session is free.

  • Meetings are held on Tuesday afternoons from 2.15 to 4.15, at Duff Memorial Hall in Busby.
  •  The current session runs for ten weeks from Tuesday 9th October 2018.
