Staying on track with your writing is hard. Everyday life is busy, and a day’s work can get in the way of regular writing.
If you don’t have the leisure to go to writers’ groups and events during the day, and you find that writing is slipping down your list of priorities, Garnethill Writers: Evening can help you get on track. Whether you’re struggling to write a novel, or you want to get started on telling your life story, or you’d just like to try your hand at writing in a friendly, supportive environment, we can help.
Garnethill Writers: Evening gives support and encouragement to writers who struggle to balance writing with daily life. The group meets once a month in a Zoom meeting online, to discuss participants’ writing and offer helpful feedback. The group is very friendly and informal, and suitable for beginners and more experienced writers alike. The meetings are open to anyone, and there’s no obligation to sign up for future sessions.

Here’s how it works:
- Everyone emails a piece of writing to the co-ordinator, Cathy McSporran, a week before the meeting date.
- Cathy distributes all the pieces to the people who are going to attend.
- Everyone reads over what the others have submitted beforehand.
- Everybody comes along to the Zoom meeting, gets and receives feedback and encouragement, and figures out what their next step is. (If you can’t attend the meeting in person, you’re welcome to give and receive your feedback via email.)
The cost is £15 per session (£10 concessionary rate). There’s no obligation to sign up for any later meetings – just come along and see what you think.
If you’d like to sit in on a session without submitting anything, you’re welcome to attend an initial meeting free of charge.
